Today’s joint meeting of the Chelsea Rotary Club was called to order by President Saritin. The blessing was given by Dr. Tom which included a prayer for sister Rotarian Lois and her family upon the passing of fellow Rotarian Eben. The singing of “God Bless America” was lead very exuberantly by Juan. The meeting was hosted by the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home. President Saritin expressed our thanks to the Commandant being such gracious hosts.
Secretary Monique gave the following report: We had one visiting Rotarian, Past District Governor Rick Luedke from the Milwaukee Downtown Club. Mary Jane had a guest Kathy Glowik. There were twelve Rotarians who had perfect attendance for October; P.P. Allan, John, P.P. Sue, Juan, P.P. Joe, P.P. Bruce, Secretary Monique, Joel, President Elect Brian, Vice President Tom, President Saritin and Mitch. Four Rotarians still have perfect attendance for the year: John, P.P. Joe, Mitch and P.P. Bruce. President Saritin’s attendance record is being reviewed for accuracy of make-ups. There was one birthday, Fella, and he was not in attendance. There were three anniversaries; P.P. Allan 1973, P.P. Rick and Fella 1981. We were also happy to have back Rick Augeri who has been missing do to business demands.
Sergeants-At-Arms Mike announced the general fine next week will be for any Chelsea Rotarian who does not attend the Chelsea/Saugus football game on Thanksgiving. The game will be played in Chelsea starting at 10:00 AM.
Happy and Sad fines:
SAA Mike had Paula tag along as a SAA in training. Paula’s first assignment was to access Chief Brian for not being able to identify every member of the Massachusetts Police Chiefs Association.
P.P. Bob was happy to see P.P. Allan’s official vehicle parked illegally.
P.P. Diane paid for not attending the function at Prince Pizzeria which she was in charge of. She also lost 5 pounds while visiting MGH for 5 days.
Ken missed the last 2 Rotary functions and will be in Jamaica next week.
Juan paid for his leading us in song and his all expense paid vacation to Cancun Mexico next week.
Rick A. paid for missing many meetings and not fulfilling his Rotarian duties.
Chief Brian paid for Juan’s singing.
P.P. Allan was happy to see Rick back again and a new member being installed.
P.P. Susan paid for missing Rotary functions, BC wins, visiting Anthony and Lorraine in Tampa, going to Pats game, successful surgery for her father and he is doing well.
Tom was appreciative of the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home hosting lunch, the successful Chelsea/Saugus football dinner at Prince Pizzeria and the turnout of Chelsea Rotarians and hopeful for nice weather for the Thanksgiving Day football game.
P.P. Patrick expressed condolences for Eben, was happy to be on school vacation, which means he is back to work, and that the sister of our newest member to be inducted later is a future Interact member.
President Saritin was sad for the loss of Eben, was happy for the turnout at prince Pizzeria and that we will be installing a new member.
Paula was happy she found a car she liked on the internet and she is going to Cancun but not with Juan and she is paying for her trip.
Daniel was happy to be attending his 1st meeting as a member of the Chelsea Rotary Club.
Visiting Rotarian Rick was happy he found us since we weren’t meeting at the Wyndham and he expressed his pleasure with how much the Chelsea Club enjoyed being Rotarians and how much good works we are doing. Rick also made a donation to the Colombian project.
P.P. Joe was sad for Lois’s loss. He was happy for the success of the local pro sports teams and the success of the Cultural Celebration event.
Secretary Monique was happy for the new member to be installed and expressed condolences to Lois and her family. She announced the Community Thanksgiving lunch at the Williams School and she will be going to Pittsburg next week.
SAA Mike paid for his cell phone ringing during the meeting.
P.P. Allan installed our newest member, Carol Rijo from the Chelsea New Development Corporation. President Saritin was her sponsor. The installation was very brief for Allan as all the materials were at the Wyndham. Carol will receive the literature next week.
Announcements:
P.P. Sue announced that John McDonald made a donation to the Camp Rotary fund in memory of his grandmother.
The Interact installation will be next Wednesday, 12/3/2008, at 2:30 PM at the Chelsea High School.
The Chelsea Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting Wednesday, 12/3/2008, at the Wyndham Hotel at 12:00 PM.
Breakfast with Santa, sponsored by the Chelsea chamber of Commerce, will take place Saturday, December 6th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the PAV on 4th Street.
SAA Mike won the 50/50 raffle and donated the winnings to the Colombian project.
