This week’s meeting of the Chelsea Rotary Club was called to order by President Saritin at 12:00 PM. The blessing was given by V.P. Tom and John led us in God Bless America. The meal consisted of vegetarian vegetable soup and taco or fajita makings.
Late arrivals were PP Joe, President Elect Brain, Joanne, Joe P., PP Anne and Bill. After all late arrivals were counted we had 26 members present and PP Jimmy doing a make-up.
Secretary Monique gave the secretary’s report. We had three guests of the Club; Jeff Bryson, Principal of the Frank M. Sokolowski Elementary School, Demetrius Fuller, our Teacher of the Quarter recipient and Alexa Ballou, Demetrius’ friend. There were 3 birthdays announced, but only one birthday person was in attendance. The birthday Rotarians were PP Barbara, PP Bruce and Peter. There was an offer of $10 for the Club not to sing “Happy Birthday”. PP Bob increased the offer to $20 for the Club to sing. The membership was happy to make a quick $30 for our charitable causes and sing we did. There were also 2 anniversaries; Joel 1982 and PP Anne 1999.
Sergeant-at-Arms Mike took charge.
PP Mike discussed the Club’s Pot-O-Gold fundraiser to be held February 26th. This is our major fundraiser and all net proceeds go to fund 5 scholarships to Chelsea children. Three of the scholarships go to Chelsea High School graduates, one to a Northeast Voke graduate and the 5th scholarship goes to a graduate of a private high school. Tickets are available and we are looking for door prizes. We will also be operating a Bingo game on the side with the winner of the coverall receiving 50% of the proceeds of the Bingo card sales.
Happy and sad moments –
PP Mike was happy to be heading to Cancun.
