February 24, 2009

President Saritin called this week’s meeting of the Chelsea Rotary Club to order.  VP Tom gave the blessing and Paula led us in “God Bless America”.  This was a joint meeting with the Winthrop Rotary Club and we were honored to have 16 Rotarians from Winthrop join us.  We also had 27 members of our own club present.  Late arrivers were PP Rick, President Elect Brian, PP Sue, Peter, Jay and PP Mike.

President Saritin introduced President Steve of the Winthrop Club who thanked us for hosting the joint meeting.  President Steve then had each member of the Winthrop Club introduce him or herself.  President Saritin then had each member of our club introduce ourselves to the Winthrop members.  President Steve announced that the Winthrop Club would be holding a Chinese Auction at the Winthrop Yacht Club on April 4th.  Tickets are $10 and includes a Chinese buffet.  The Club purchased a table of ten.

Secretary Monique announced one roamer, PP Turner and a guest of PP Anne, Bob Alconada.  There were two anniversaries this week; Christian 8 years and VP Tom 5 years.  PP Bob celebrated his birthday but there was no singing as some members donated $10 to not sing.  Peter announced we missed his birthday so the Club sang “Happy Birthday” to Peter.

Mitch filled in as Sergeants-at-Large for PP Mike.  The general fine was anyone who did not attend the last join meeting with the Winthrop Club in Winthrop.
