President Saritin gave the salute to the flag and then asked Tom to recite the blessing. “ “Peking” Patrick led us in song.
When P.P. Sue, who just returned from Mexico, entered the room, most of the membership put on surgical masks. This prank was taken in good spirit by Sue who announced that she was swine free and even her family was concerned to be near her.
Secretary “Unique” Monique announced that she was celebrating 3 years in rotary and P.P. Barbara with 12 years.
S.A.A. Mike made the general fine anyone who did not bet on the winner of the Kentucky Derby this past Saturday.
P.P. Sue paid happy moment fines for her trip to Cancun, no swine flue, her niece’s first communion and her birthday, which was last week. She mentioned that even her family treated her like a leper, because she might have picked up the swine flu in Mexico. P.P. Patrick was back after a trip to China; was very happy to have finished college and graduated from the Northeastern U. MBA program; and his nephew’s first communion. Mitch was glad to see so many at the first softball practice last Wednesday. Ken missed a couple of weeks, is getting his boat ready for the launching, and happy for Kathy and his 40th wedding anniversary. P.P. Allan was happy for his birthday and then the singing started! Tom K. was sad that a train killed a student. Sergio was happy/sad that his son moved to a new location in China. P.P. Bruce was happy for his winning horse, softball beginning and rotary bowling is over. Bill was happy that his daughter was accepted to Emerson. John is looking forward to meeting Sigmund Freud’s Granddaughter soon. Joe P. attended the Celtics game. Pres. Saritin happy that her daughter and sister made it through a year of college; the rotary district conference and that PDG Victor and the Chelsea Interact Club attended. Guest John Kennard announced the Chelsea Artists Art Walk May 30th and 31st where a shuttle bus will take attendees to 6 different galleries around Chelsea. There will also be a photo gallery of Harry Segiel’s famous pictures at Chelsea City Hall. He asks everyone to please come and promote the event. PDG Victor was happy to see a healthy Sue and was happy that Monique and P.P. Barbara were celebrating rotary anniversaries. Monique was pleased about Tim’s winnings and five students going to RYLA. P.P. Mike was happy for a fun party at his house.
PDG Victor introduced Domenica Ronagno, an ambassadorial scholar, sponsored by the Winthrop rotary club. She is from Pisa, Italy and a language researcher. She is working at Harvard U. with people that have language disabilities. Patients with Parkinson’s, children, and people having trouble retrieving words. Domenica is very happy to be a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar and experienced many of the Rotarian ideals. She is proud to represent rotary and repeated the rotary motto “the future is in your hands”
Tom K. won the raffle and donated it back to the club.
Have a great week and see you Tuesday!
P.P. Barry
