Rotary International Theme 2009-2010

The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands

Rotary International President: John Kenny

District 7930 Governor:  Ingrid Brown

November 10, 2009

Today’s meeting of the Chelsea Rotary Club was called to order by President Elect Tom.  The blessing was offered by P.P. Bruce and Tom led us in God Bless America.  We had 25 Rotarians and 5 guests in attendance.  Joe, Matt, Peter and Lillian arrived late.

After a delicious lunch of macaroni and cheese, chicken, streak tips and mixed vegetables Secretary Paula took the floor.  She introduced our guests; Anthony Fiore, guest of P.P. Susan, Melissa Gallego, guest of Juan, Kevin Kyes, guest of Brian, Al Mazin, guest of P.P. Allan and Jon Marcus, guest of the Club for finally the last time.  There were two birthdays, Joel and Monique.  That completed the Secretary’s report.

Sergeants-At-Arms Mitch then took over the floor to raise funds for our worthy causes through happy and sad fines.

Joel paid for his birthday.

P.P. Joe was happy for the Patriots and the retirement party for Janice Sikorski.

Peter was late so he missed the singing of Happy Birthday, for which he was happy, and he maintained his perfect attendance for November.

Brain was happy to have lunch with his brother Kevin.

P.P. Allen had his picture in the paper and was looking forward to installing Jon as our newest member.

Jon was happy he was finally being inducted into the Rotary Club.

Bob missed last week’s meeting and was happy for 25 happy years of marriage.  He has been married for 48 years.

P.P. Mike attended a fund raiser for senate candidate Capuano and then visited with Senator Falzone from UMASS Lowell.

John was looking forward the Veterans’ Day.

Mark was happy for Joel’s birthday.

Rick was also looking forward to Veterans’ Day.

Ken has it right this week, he is going on vacation.

Dan missed last week’s meeting.

Carol was happy for the Patriots.

P.P. Patrick did not have his badge and missed last week.

Tom was happy his 6 year old granddaughter shares the same birthday as Joel.  I did not catch the work he used to describe Joel.

Lillian was late.

Joe was happy he was spending the rest of the week in New Hampshire hunting Bambie.

Juan received two boxes of supplies for the Colombia medical center.  He is looking forward to Friday night’s fundraiser for the Colombia project.

Anthony

Anthony was happy P.P. Susan invited him to Rotary, P.P. Joe for inviting him to Janice’s retirement party and nice to see everyone.

P.P. Susan was happy to have Anthony and Lorraine staying with her, Janice’s party and the Patriots’ win.

Secretary Paula was happy the election is over.

Jon

President Elect Tom introduced P.P. Allan who conducted the induction of Jon Marcus as the newest member of the Chelsea Rotary Club.  Jon will give his vocation talk at next week’s Rotary meeting.

Sergeants-At-Large Mitch announced a change to the raffle.  Hence forth two tickets will be drawn from the helmet.  The two lucky people will have the chance to draw a card from a deck of cards.  If either selects the winning card, currently the queen of diamonds, that person wins the jackpot.  If there is no winner the jackpot rolls over to the next week.  The cards drawn are discarded so the odds of winning increase each week.  Mitch also announced you can purchase an arm’s length of tickets for $5 in addition to the normal 3 for $2.

Lillian and Dan were the 1st contestants and they did not select the winning card.

DON’T FORGET LOOSE CHANGE FOR POLIO PLUS OR JUAN’S FUNDRAISER FRIDAY EVENING.
