PP Joe

P.P. Joe called this week’s meeting of the Chelsea Rotary Club to order.  P.P. Bruce gave the blessing and P.P. Kevin arrived just in time to lead us in God Bless America.  We had 25 Rotarians and 1 guest for lunch.  Five Rotarians arrived late, P.P. Charlene, P.P. Susan, V.P. Jackie, Bill and Peter.  Two Rotarians left early, Mark and Juan.  Hopefully they all observed Rotary tradition and made a small contribution to the lantern.

Lunch was a delicious early Thanksgiving turkey dinner with late arriving cranberry sauce.

Secretary Paula gave her report.  We had one guest of the club, Kevin Kyes.  There were two birthdays, Lois and Veronica.

Sergeants-At-Arms Mitch took over control.  Mitch announced there would be no general fine and everyone should therefore contribute liberally.

P.P. Barry missed a couple of weeks due to golf sickness.  His daughter Kimberly celebrated her 21st birthday and Barry had an unhappy Sunday night.

P.P. Mike took his youngest son to the Friday night Celtics game.  Must be why they lost.

P.P. Pat was happy for his mother’s 39th or so birthday.

At this time P.P. Joe levied a fine on the 1st table for talking while P.P. Pat was talking about his mother’s birthday.  P.P. Sue than asked what was P.P. Pat’s happy moment.

John was happy P.P. Kevin arrived in time to lead the singing.

P.P. Joe did not enjoy the Boston sports weekend but he was happy P.P. Kevin joined us for lunch.

Our newest member Jon lost his voice so he was happy he did not have to give his vocational talk today.  He needed more time to prepare.  He was only up to 40 pages of preparation.

Bob was happy to celebrate his and his wife’s 40th wedding anniversary and his cousin had been promoted to the bullpen coach for the Cleveland Indians.

P.P. Kevin was happy to spend time with us and about his promotion to department supervisor at Home Depot in Saugus.

P.P. Allan was happy P.P. Kevin arrived in time to lead the singing because P.P. Joe has asked him to lead the singing.  We were happy also.

P.P. Sue was happy for BC victory.  She was sad her father totaled his car while driving from Atlantic City to Mohegan Sun.  Fortunately neither her mother or father was injured.  Her father proceeded to rent a replacement vehicle and continued their trip to Mohegan Sun.  Her friend Mary Ellen’s car died while they were our Saturday night and her friend Mary K’s aunt was diagnosed with leukemia.

P.P. Barbara had been on vacation to Florida and visited Mickey.  She was happy she went to bed at half time Sunday night.

P.P. Rick missed a meeting and a belt loop and was not happy about Sunday’s game.

Lois was happy to become a senior citizen so she can get senior citizen discounts.

P.P. Charlene will be visiting in-laws in Indiana for Thanksgiving and Chris made the honor roll.

Matt was late and wished he had gone to bed at half time.

Juan gave a report on the fundraiser Friday night.  Four Rotarians attended.  The party raised $1,231 plus $1,000 donated by a Chelsea Rotarian brought the total to $2,231 for the Colombia project.  Juan also paid for leaving early.

Fella congratulated Juan for doing such a good job with the Colombia project.

Paula missed Juan’s party.

The 10 best Rotarians won $100 at the Chamber Pot-O-Gold and donated the funds to the Colombia project.  The Rotary Club won a $50 gas card which P.P. Charlene had converted to cash and donated to the Colombia project.

Announcements:

Matt announced ROCA was having its 2nd Annual Benefit Concert Saturday, December 4th.  Tickets are $20 and raffle tickets are also available for some very nice prizes.

P.P. Susan announced the tree lighting ceremony would be held Tuesday, December 1st in Chelsea Square,  Santa would be visiting Saturday, December 5th at the PAV and the Chamber’s annual meeting will be held at the Wyndham Hotel Wednesday, December 2nd at 12:00 PM.

The raffle was worth $44.  Neither P.P. Joe or P.P. Allan drew the queen of diamonds.

Quotations of the week

Maria

'Whenever  I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all  over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd  love to be skinny like that, but not with all  those flies and death and stuff.'
--Mariah  Carey

Gore

'It isn't pollution that's harming the environment.  It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it.'
