Brian

This week’s meeting of the Chelsea Rotary Club was opened with President Brian leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  P.P. Bruce offered the prayer and President Elect Tom lead us in the singing of God Bless America.  By the end of the meeting there were 26 Rotarians and 2 guests present.   Arriving late were Mark, Joe, Juan, Peter, Christian and Jay.  Leaving early were PE Tom and Juan.

Secretary Paula gave her report.  We had two guests, Ari Yasgur a guest of Jon and Kevin Kyes a guest of the Club.   There were two birthdays, John and Lillian.  Since neither was present we did not sing.  Maybe that was why they were absent.  There was one anniversary, Dan.

Sergeants-At-Arms Mitch announced the general fine was if you did not know the name of the Rotarian nominated to be president of Rotary International for 2011-2012.  Safe to say everyone paid the fine.  We than proceeded to happy & sad fines.

P.P. Allan was happy to be approaching his 30th anniversary as a member of the Chelsea Rotary Club.

Jon was happy to have his friend Ari visiting from Connecticut and he did not kill any gold fish this week.

Bill was happy for the patriots.

Bob was happy his daughter was home recuperating from surgery.

Monique was sad she missed a couple of weeks.  She also announced Centro Latino’s 13th Annual Community Lunch Wednesday.

Christian was happy both his 12 and 15 year old made the honor roll at their school.  Christian also left on the tables copies of ROCA’s annual report.

Ken was happy to be back from vacation.  He did go one vacation the correct week.  He was also happy to be celebrating Thanksgiving with his family at home.

Juan was happy for the new pictures of the clinic in Colombia and the progress being made with the construction.  The pictures were emailed to the rest of the Rotarians last week.

President Brian thanked P.P. Joe and PE Tom for filling in as President while he was out of town.  He was not looking forward to the long drive for Thanksgiving.

P.P. Barry was happy for a successful computer conversion at work.

Secretary Paula was sad for her parents and other family members she will miss at Thanksgiving.

Jay had several issues, missed meetings, business tax increases, missed birthday, Pot-O-Gold winnings and he became a family of two Rotarians as his son joined the Danvers Interact.

Peter paid for being late and having perfect attendance in November.

P.P. Sue paid for BC’s lose and celebrating her friend Nancy’s 50th birthday.

President Brian brought before the membership a request from the Board for reaffirmation of the Board’s approval to sponsor a FUEL account for one Chelsea student for the next 5 years.  The commitment is $25 per month over the student’s 8th through 12th grade for a total of $1,500.  The student or the student’s family must match the funds.  The membership voted to approve the funding.

Kevin

P.P. Allan inducted our newest member, Kevin Kyes.  His brother Brian sponsored Kevin.

Jon

Until Kevin was inducted our newest member was Jon.  Jon gave his vocational speech.  John is married, his wife’s name is Miriam, and they have one son Sam.  Jon was born in Sharon, raised in Brookline and now lives in Sharon.  Jon is in the real estate business.   His great grandfather Max Gopin was Jon’s inspiration to be successful and be involved in real estate.  Jon loves real estate because it allows him to create dreams.  He also loves the many hats you must wear in real estate, lawyer, banker and psychiatrist.

Jon finished by mentioning two bits of advice he received from a couple of senior members of the Club:

Don’t talk too much!!

Don’t be a passive member!!

Jon does not plan on being a passive member.  He thanked the membership for allowing him to join.
