This week’s meeting of the Chelsea Rotary Club was opened with President Brian leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  P.P. Bruce offered the prayer and John Bayliss lead us in the singing of God Bless America.  By the end of the meeting there were 30 Rotarians and 1 guest present.   Arriving late were Jackie, Secretary Paula, P.P. Sue and Joe.  Leaving early were P.P. Allan and P.P. Jim.

 

Secretary Paula gave her report.  We had one guest, Juan’s son Matthew.   There were no birthdays or anniversaries.

 

Acting Sergeants-At-Arms Mike announced the general fine was if you did not have on you a ticket on Monique’s baby contest you had to pay.

 

P.P. Mike led the happy fines with notice that the Junior Senator from Lowell University had made the Dean’s list.

 

P.P. Rick was going to miss a couple of weeks as he travels on work????

 

Madelyn was happy to be going to Colombia with Juan and the other members of the Chelsea contingent.

 

Fella was happy for the funds raised for Haiti.

 

P.P. Sue was happy tax season had started so she could replenish her bank account.

 

P.P. Joe announced he was going to be a grandfather again.

 

Monique was happy to have visited with Governor Patrick.

 

Mark missed last week.

 

Juan thanked P.P. Joe for driving to RI to pick up medical equipment for the Colombia project.  Juan was also happy to have his son with him.  Juan also gave a brief summary of the Colombia project opening ceremony, which will include 1,500 guests including 45 doctors, the regional Governor, the Arch Bishop and many other dignitaries.  This is a major happening in Colombia that we can very proud of financing.

 

P.P. Saritin was happy for Juan and Madelyn traveling to Colombia for the opening ceremonies and for her baby.

 

Ken wished Juan and Madelyn a safe trip.

 

Bob R. is going to visit the Everett Rotary Club to discuss the 2nd Annual ALS Walk to be held 4/25/2010.  He was also happy the ALS House will start accepting residents 3/22/2010.

Bob C. wish the Colombia contingent good luck.

 

Bill was happy his daughter made the Dean’s list at Emerson College.

 

Rick missed last week.

 

Kevin missed last week and was happy to celebrate his wife and son’s birthdays.

 

P.P. Barbara was happy to celebrate all her family’s February birthdays.

 

P.P. Patrick announced he will be driving 3 of the Chelsea Interact student’s to RYLA training this weekend.  The 3 students have been invited to be RYLA advisers this year.

 

President Brian wished Juan and Madelyn a safe trip.

 

Secretary Paula was late, met with Governor Patrick and had a NH Rotarian as her houseguest this past weekend.

 

Announcements:

 

P.P.  Mike discussed the Rotary Pot-O-Gold will be held Thursday, March 11th at the Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus.  There will be an all you can eat buffet from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM followed by games the drawing.  P.P. Patrick and Bob C. will be in charge of ticket sales.  P.P. Barry will handle door prizes.  There will be 125 tickets sold @ $75 each for the drawing.  Dinner will be a separate charge.

 

President Brian discussed plans to run a joint fundraiser with the Interact Club; probably a team based treasure hunt.

 

The raffle pot was $431.  P.P. Bruce won the pot and donated $100 to Haiti shelter fund. 

 

We have $3,500 in the Haiti Shelter fund.  If we can raise another $500 we will be able to provide 4 shelters for the Haiti relief program.

 

  

BOARD MEETING NOTES

 

The Broad approved the recommendation of the Nominating Committee and appointed Ken as Vice President.  Jackie had previously submitted her resignation as Vice President due to work commitments.

 

The Board approved the following donations:

 

Haiti Shelter program - $1,000 that was previously approved by the membership.

 

RYLA – Sponsor 5 students @ $125 each.

 

Latimer society - $250.
