The June 15, 2010 meeting of the Chelsea Rotary Club was called to order by President Brian. PP Bruce offered the blessing and PE Tom lead the singing of “God Bless America”. There were 27 members present and 17 guests. Late arrivals were PP Sue, Bill and Peter.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Installation of Officers is next Thursday evening at the Nahant Country Club.
Go and support your officers for the 2010 – 2011 year. Every member is automatically billed for one dinner so you might as well go and get your money’s worth. Contact PP Susan with your tickets.
Raffle tickets for the Chelsea clock should be turned in to PP Saritin.
Silent auction items should be turned in to PP Patrick.
Acting Secretary PP Bruce announced there were no birthdays or Rotary anniversaries. Lois introduced her guest Marilyn Gozdon. There were also 16 guests of the Club associated with the scholarship presentations.
SSA Mitch took center stage and announced the general fine was for every member who had not responded to PP Sue with their tickets to the installation.
The following happy/sad fines were paid:
PP Bruce for a softball blunder, the Celtics’ victory and daughter Nikki making the honor roll and moving to the 7th grade.
SSA Mitch paid for contributing to the softball blunder.
PP Mike enjoyed the birthday party Saturday night and playing golf with the original Tuesday foursome, although he only named three.
PP Barry enjoyed the 29th birthday party, winning money from the original foursome, the Celtics’ victory, being the winning pitcher in last week’s softball game and maintaining his 1.000 batting average.
Kevin is celebrating his 10th wedding anniversary; he met his wife at the Nahant Country Club and enjoyed the Celtics’ victory.
PP Saritin did gardening and yard work with her husband Dave last weekend.
PE Tom paid for all the scholarship recipients.
Christian paid for his two strikeouts the last game; he will be providing the refreshments for the next game and he celebrated a birdie on a 200 yard par 3.
Juan is enjoying the Soccer World Cup with friends at his house.
Ken finally got to take his own boat out last weekend and will be delivering another new boat for a friend next weekend.
PP Rick missed the surprise birthday party.
Bill paid for the softball team’s one game winning streak.
Bob A enjoyed Celtics’ victory and was leaving early.
PP Joe was happy for the softball victory and the softball blunders because there were no after game lectures from the coach, Celtics’ victory and being selected as the Rotarian of the Year.
PP Sue made a generous donation to the Camp Rotary fund in appreciation for the wonderful surprise birthday party and new golf clubs. 17 of 20 Camp Rotary children attended the information session last Tuesday. PP Sue expressed appreciation for the assistance from Joanne and Madelyn.
Joel was happy his grandson’s Lacrosse team won the championship and he enjoyed PP Sue’s birthday party.
PP Barbara was happy her daughter passed the secondary education English teaching test and for PP Sue’s party.
SSA Mitch attended a business conference in Saratoga Springs and then visited his son in NYC for the 1st time.

PE Tom introduced the recipients of this year's Rotary scholarships;
Ryan Finnegan from Malden Memorial High School will attend Nichols College and will study secondary education history.
Ling Do from Chelsea High School will attend UMASS Boston and will study engineering.
Johanna Mateo Kejia from Chelsea High School and an Interact member will attend Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio and will study political science.
Dzenisa Pajazetovic from Chelsea High School will attend UMASS Boston and will study nursing.
Midalys Rosario from Chelsea High School will attend UMASS Boston and will study nursing.
The students were accompanied by family members and the following administrators;

The unlucky winners of the weekly raffle were Kevin and Rick.
